What is Standard Action and why should you care? I’ll tell you the what and the why! SA is an entertaining web series created by Vancouver actor and geek Joanna Gaskell. The episodes take place in a fantasy world (think D&D with the numbers filed off) and the protagonists of the series are a lovable bunch of misfit adventurers. The four principal actors are: - Joanna Gaskell as Edda, the chipper Elf barbarian. - Edwin Perez as Fernando, the half-Halfling bard. - Tara Pratt as Gwenevere, the fastidious sorceress. - Daniel Johnston as Martin, the Druid who has issues with nature. These aren’t experienced explorers… in fact, it’s their inexperience and dysfunction that makes for hilarious viewing. The dialogue can be self-aware when they name check their own Intelligence scores or their character classes.
Season one was beautifully shot in and around Vancouver with the cast also taking double and triple duties as crew. Standard Action is a true labour of love but love cannot sustain a second season.
Donate to their cause. It’s a good one. There’s a short video with Edwin Perez and you’ll get sweet loot! Ensure a second season of this endearing series.
